‘Travelling to Iran? You must be nuts! Iran is dangerous.’ – This was the sentence I heard the most when I told my friends that I was going to backpack in Iran.
I did not know then that I was about to create an enormous empathy for this country and its people.
Old Persia is a fascinating country, full of history and culture. Visiting Persepolis, the ancient capital of Persia, is like time travelling to the past.
The country will enchant every traveller whether he is looking for lost villages amidst snow covered mountains, deserts or even the beach.
Getting lost in Iran is delicious! The majority of the population does not speak English but every one will help with a wide smile without ever asking for any recompense. I was constantly stopped on the street by Iranians who were genuinely interested to know where I came from and what I thought about Iran..
Did I find the country dangerous? Yes, it is dangerous in the sense that after visiting Iran for the first time you will always want to return there. Now, back home, I find it difficult to stop speaking about the affability of the Iranian people. I am so overwhelmed by this people that I almost forget to speak about the beauty of the country itself!
I love Iran!
